Is it just me or are you having trouble getting into the "spirit" of the
Season as the situation of the Country, and the World, deteriorates?
Over the years it seems like the spirit of "giving" has turned into the
spirit of "getting".... Not exactly what this Season is all about. I try and want
to be festive but it is not easy for us who actually pay attention.
I will be the guy in the corner saying "Bah Humbug"

Did you see the student at U of C Davis being pepper sprayed while sitting peacefully, arms linked? It made me sick. The Chancellor of Davis, as well as the police commissioner should be kicked out for ordering this horrendous treatment.
Come on, get off your butts and contact the Mayor of Portland, Mayor of Portland, Mayor of Oakland
Mayor of New York, etc and tell them that we will no tolerate abuse of peaceful protestors.
Make a difference. Take back civility, something that is dreadfully lacking in our Country.
(I still hate George Bush)

I have just returned from my daily visit to Occupy Chicago to hand out buttons.
There was a GA (General Assembly) going on where people who wish to address
the assembly can speak. I was thrilled to see Riki Ott there! She is an environmental
activist, author and PhD whose home is Cardova, Alaska, the site of the Exxon Valdez
Oil Spill. She has worked tirelessly to right the wrongs of that spill, as well as the disaster
in New Orleans and other environmental catastrophies. I had anopportunity to speak breifly with her
as she was on her way to the train. It was a great thrill.
I am such a groupie!!

I have been spending part of my lunch break at Occupy Chicago handing out buttons "We are the 99%" It is invigorating to be there
and helps those protestors who "live" on the street. People are mostly very receptive and actually ask questions for clarity.
ICorporate Media has been forced to address the "Occupy" phenomena, due to the stupidity of New York's "finest". They are getting
nervous. You can tell because they are spreading lies about the protestors.
We are not all dirty, out of work hippies (although I wear that title with pride!)
We are not all drugged out - Drugs and Alcohol are prohibited in the encampments
We are not violent - This is a TOTALLY non-violent group, just like in the 60's & 70's.
So, it is up to all of use to keep the pressure on to eliminate Corporate Greed and the ongoing war on the people by the
conservative right wing. They hate us because we speak the truth.
There will be a rally and an attempt to Occupy a space on Saturday, beginning around 2:00 pm. Go and give your support!

OCCUPY WALLSTREET, CHICAGO, DENVER, LA, SAN FRANCISCO, TORONTO, BOSTON
NEBRASKA, ALABAMA (all these places are part of the movement)
Well, all it took were several hundred (questionable) arrests, 700 to be exact, to get the corporate media to finally pay attention to what is going at Occupy Wall Street in New York City.
Macing confined girls the face started the interest, both by Wall Street and
We the People. I was at the LaSalle/Jackson Occupy Chicago the other day.
It was a small but enthusiastic group than continues to grow.
So, start paying attention to what is going on. If you cannot find it on your
Corporate TV, check Democracy Now!, Free Speach TV, Huffington Post
(check under Politics and Culter) Current TV.
Are voices are being heard so keep up the pressure and tell everyone you know
what is going on.

Did you know that the Constitution specifically charges the government to establish a U.S. Postal Service?
Now, call your representatives and tell them to support HR1351 and keep the U.S. Postal Service in tact.
Of course, the only ones to hurt from privatization of the Postal Service are, the poor, elderly and infirm who
rely on the Postal Service for deliverty of their government checks and prescritpions. Also, those living
in rural areas because there are some places overnight serives will not go, like to many, many rurual areas!
That's right, they are trying to stick it to the working class and the poor, again.

Dear Sir or Madam:
I am curious. Why is it that if the tea baggers have a rally of 50 people,
you guys are all over it like a cheap suit, but when hundreds
of individuals are putting their lives in jeopardy, as witnessed by the actions of the
police beatings and pepper spraying peaceful protesters,
THERE HAVE BEEN NO STORIES OVER THE PAST MONTH?!
Why do only far, far right wing fanatics get your undivided attention,
but citizens who are in the majority, are ignored or abused without coverage.
I know you are a right wing paper, but at least you should be fair.
I understand that is an unusual concept for the corporate right,
but it is the responsibility of a "news" paper to cover ALL the news,
not just what your Corporate hacks tell you to cover.
You should be ashamed.

It appears the Country has lost its humanity. Since we have switched from TV shows like Leave it
To Beaver, Maude, Golden Girls which focused on social problems and attitudes, civics and working out
problems rationally, we have become a judgemental vindictive people.
All the "Reality" (I have no idea as to who's reality) Shows, Dancing with the Stars, X-Factor, etc. instead of trying to help people work together for the common good, we are judging them,
throwing them off the island, out of
the contest, under the train and many times insulting them for their courage
to try to reach a dream.
We need to step back and look at the problems of this Country with an eye on how to make things
better, not making YOURSELF feel better by treating others as lessers.
Do something or say something nice to someone today and every day. If they are total strangers
even better!!

Unless the "powers that be" step in and stop it, Troy Davis will be executed in Georgia for a crime that the evidence
indicates he did not commit. I have written letters, signed petitions, sent e-mail since I first heard about this injustice.
I know not many people read this, but the murder of an innocent person is unthinkable. Please, google Troy Davis and you
will find all the avenues available to communicate with the "powers that be" in an attempt to stop this injustice.
This is not the Country I signed up for.

So, where are the other Union Members while the Teacher's Union is being attached by Rahm??
Didn't they learn anything from the mess in Wisconsin and Walker's attack on their Unions? ALL Unions came
together to filght the injustice and support their brothers and sisters in another Union.
Don't they understand that we must ALL stand with the Teachers, whether or not you are a Teacher. If we don't
there will be no one to stand up for that last group being attacked by the big corporations and their friends.
Despite what my friend said last night, privatization can only HURT Unions, the rigfhts they have fought for over
the years (bathroom breaks, lunch breaks, paid sick days, paid vacation, safety in the workplace, etc)
We cannot go back to the days when worker HAD NO RIGHTS!
Make sure you stand for the Unions and make sure to tell all your friends the same.
We must stand together, or we will all hang separately.

This is a letter I have sent regarding the gross injustice being played out in Georgia regarding Troy Davis. If you don't know this story,
look it up under Troy Davis. With all the other autrocities going on we need to stand up for each other, especially when there is so much evidence in Mr. Davis' defence.

and urge them to stop the Execution of Troy Davis on September 21, 2011
We should be better people than this. We need to stand together and fight repression and forces who are trying to crush us!

7 of the 9 police witnesses have recanted and there is no physical evidence. How can you take the life of a person with so much evidence of his innocence? If your son, father, brother, nephew, etc. were in the same situation, you would be pushing hard to get this miscarriage of justice repealed.

Teachers. These people should be revered, instead they are being attacked as
the Bad Guys. They are getting too much. They get too many days off. They get too
many sick days. BS!
Today was particularly hard for Viktor'sschool. One teacher had to be cut due to money
Now there is a ALS sufferor who no longer has healthcare. Rahm has simply decided that
money is more important than the life of a person who has worked her entire career
being a responsible, devoted teacher. She has been sent home to die.
We work with teachers. Unlike most of us, when the School Day is over, Teachers must
go home and do their Homework! Grading papers, doing required paperwork, getting their
Lesson Plans set for the next day, devising a strategies as to how to best teach those
children who have specific needs of teaching.
We need to support our Teachers, as well as ALL UNION WORKERS, who have recently
come under attack. The "powers that be" want to strip Workers of their Bargaining rights.
All you need do is look toward Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio
and see the destruction the republicans are heaping on the Working Class of this Country.
If it were not for Unions and the support given to Workers, we would still have children under the age of
16 working in factories, there would be no lunch breaks, there would be no paid vacations, there
would be no health care (what little there is), there would be no safety rules in the workplace, etc.
If you think about it for one minute, I am sure you will find many more "benefits" won for
the Workers.
The Corporations are tearing us apart by attacking us one at a time. If we do not stand up for
those under attack now, there will be no one left to fight for us when we come under attack.
We need to stand together or we will certainly fall apart.

Well, the President has an opportunity to help our environment. There are people protesting outside the Whitehouse who are willing to go to jail to stop this atrocity!!

and let the President know we stand with those protestors against this disaster about to happen.
There have been 3 major accidents by TransCanada in the past six months. This is not very
reassuring. Remember BP claiming they could handle any leak that could occur. They lied!
Based on their records, TransCanada is lying, as well.
They plan to go through and under the Ogallala Aquifir, an "irreplaceable source of clean
water".
Stand against this stupidity! Call the president, your senators, congressmen and voice your
strong resistence to this certain destruction to our environment.
